Dear Friends of UCLA's Friends of the Semel Institute,
Thank you for being a part of our UCLA Friends of the Semel Institute mental health community. We hope that you have found our Open Mind programs informative and engaging. We appreciate and are grateful for your participation.
In addition to sponsoring the Open Mind series, The Friends also support the research of outstanding early career scientists doing state-of-the-art research through our Friends Research Scholar Program. Each year, The Friends award highly competitive grants of $25,000 and more to researchers doing independent groundbreaking translational research to unlock the secrets of the mind and brain and develop new treatments for mental illnesses and disorders that affect over 46.6 million people every year in this country.
As part of your year-end giving, we ask that you consider investing in the future of mental health research by joining our UCLA SPARK crowdfunding campaign. Our goal is to collectively raise $25,000 by December 31 to fund a Friends Scholar doing state-of-the-art research to improve the lives of people with mental illnesses or disorders and their loved ones. To date, The Friends has awarded grants of $25, 000- $50,000 to 24 trailblazing early career neuroscientists.
You can meet all the scholars here and read about their studies at www.friendsofnpi.org/scholar-recipients
Please join us by making your gift of any amount (no gift is too small or too large!).
Together, we can make a difference in advancing mental health research that will ultimately benefit us all. Please feel free to forward this to your friends, colleagues or post your participation in SPARK on social media. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
Wishing you and your families a healthy, happy holiday season and New Year.
