Dear Friends,

Thank you for participating in UCLA's Friends of the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior and the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital Board of Advisors virtual Open Mind/#WOW program. We were honored to host this zoom event featuring Jonathan Salk, M.D. and Susan Smalley, Ph.D. We hope that you found their conversation thought provoking and inspiring.

As we all adapt to these challenging times that keep us physically apart, our virtual Open Mind/#WOW programs help bring us socially and emotionally together. Our unique presentations about mental health feature informative discussions with thought leaders in science and culture who share their knowledge and expertise with our Open Mind/#WOW audience.

On that note, we are proud to announce that our next virtual Open Mind/#WOW program will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd at 5 PM PT, with writer, mental health advocate, speaker, and former WWE championship wrestler, AJ Mendez. Ms. Mendez will discuss her New York Times bestseller, Crazy is my Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules. Katrina DeBonis, M.D., psychiatrist at the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, will join AJ in conversation. Registration for this event will be available on August 2nd.

We invite you to visit our website, www.friendsofthesemelinstitute.org to learn more about The Friends Open Mind/#WOW programs and our Research Scholar Program that awards grants to early career scientists who are at the forefront of new discoveries about the mind and brain that will lead to new treatments for mental illnesses and disorders. We deeply appreciate the support of our audience members who make it possible for us to continue to bring renowned speakers and films about mental health issues as a free public service to the community. If you have not yet joined our community of supporters, we hope you will consider joining us today!
