Please join UCLA's Friends of the Semel Institute and the Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital Board of Advisors for a special Open Mind/#WOW program with Robert Kolker, renowned author of The New York Times #1 bestselling book, Hidden Valley Road, The Story of a Midcentury American Family.

Hidden Valley Road is the story of the Galvin family who had 12 children, six of them diagnosed with schizophrenia, that became science’s great hope in the quest to understand the disease. Mr. Kolker will be joined in discussion by Dr. Stephen Marder, UCLA Professor of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences and a world-renowned expert on schizophrenia. Lindsay Galvin Rauch, one of the Galvin family sisters, will also talk about what it was like growing up in a family with siblings who had severe mental illness.
